God Chose Not to Give Me a Baby
God Chose Me. God Chose You.
"You did not choose Me, but I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce fruit and that your fruit should remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you." (John 15:16, CSB)
God chose me. God chose you. Three simple words, but so powerful.
Powerful because God is above all else and He is above everyone else.
Powerful because being chosen is being picked, selected, pointed out from everyone else.
Powerful because there are billions of other people God could have chosen; yet, He chose me and He chose you.
I' l l admit, though, sometimes, when I think about those three simple words, I wonder exactly what God chose me for. I wonder if He chose me to accomplish something huge for His glory (similar to what Nick and Christine Caine do through A21), or just something small in my here and now that will make an impact far beyond me (like leading my little boy to salvation).
Then, I think about my people and the small sphere of influence God has appointed to me.
God chose me and molded me to be my husband's wife. God chose me for Hugo and He chose Hugo for me.
God chose me to somehow positively influence Hugo's daughter and son. I still haven't figured this one out, but I'm sure trying.
This next one is still hard to this day. God chose me to carry a precious baby boy for nine weeks, only to take my Ezra home with Him. I've never had the privilege of meeting or raising Ezra, but I know I will get to see him in eternity.
God chose me to be Micah Zion Salinas' mom, and oh what a gift and privilege that has been and will be for many, many years to come.
I know that God has chosen me for other things, too, but I'm in the waiting season for their fulfillment.
In the meantime, I want you to know God chose you for your people and the small sphere of influence that you are living in, right now. Yes, there are and will be obstacles to overcome, but God equipped you 'for such a time as this…' (Esther 4:14).
God chose you to be the wife/husband that your husband/wife needs.
God chose you to be the mother/father that your children need.
God chose you to be the grandmother/grandfather that your grandchildren need.
God chose you to open your own business.
God chose you to be a missionary around the world.
God chose you to be an actor/actress.
God chose you to do great and mighty things for His glory (1 Peter 2:9). Even if those things are only within your little part of the world.
Each of you are precious in God's sight, and He knew each of you before He created you. He knew before you were conceived in your mother's womb what He had purposed for you to do (Ephesians 2:10).
God chose you! Let me emphasize it a little more. GOD CHOSE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU!
I would like to speak these verses over each of you:
"I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, would give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so that you may know what is the hope of His calling [for you], what is the wealth of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the mighty working of His strength." (Ephesians 1:17–19)
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word that is alive and active and transforming us. May Your Word sink deep into our hearts and minds daily. Help us to accept and embrace the fact that You chose each of us for such a time as this, and that You chose us specifically for our little sphere of influence in this world. We thank You for choosing us and appointing us in the places that You have put us. We thank You for all that You have blessed us with, Father. In Jesus' name, we pray, amen.
